Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor Donagh Berry has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Optimising breeding of dairy cows: Leveraging genetics for more sustainable production’. 
 
Professor Donagh Berry is a Senior Principal Research Officer in quantitative genetics at Teagasc, Ireland as well as holding several (inter)national professorship appointments. He is strongly engaged in third-level education and extension to a wide range of different stakeholders. He has published over 370 journal publications mostly relating to dairy cow breeding. Working across species, his research interests are in phenotyping strategies, breeding goal development and deployment, genetic evaluations, and genomic predictions.

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Dr Felix Herzog has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Improving biodiversity monitoring of agricultural landscapes’. 
 
Dr Felix Herzog is currently Head of a team of 50 in the Agricultural Landscape and Biodiversity Research Group at Agroscope, Switzerland’s leading centre for agricultural research. With 25 years’ experience and over 100 publications, Dr Herzog is internationally renowned for his research on understanding and enhancing the critical role of biodiversity in agricultural landscapes. He is on the editorial boards of a number of journals, including Agriculture for Sustainable Development, and has participated in a number of major EU research projects relating to biodiversity and agriculture.

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor María Cambra-López and Dr Yang Zhao have agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Advances in precision poultry farming technologies’. 
 
Dr María Cambra-López is an Associate Professor in the Animal Science Department at Universitat Politècnica de Valencia, Spain. She is recognised for her work in animal production technology and precision nutrition of non-ruminants. She is author and co-author of more than 137 original scientific documents, including research papers, conference papers and book chapters. Professor Cambra-López has received several awards from international academic and research bodies in recognition of her research contributions. She is a member of the European Association of Precision Livestock Farming (EA-PLF). She coordinates a national initiative to connect researchers in the field of PLF across Spain, as well as the training of students and professionals in this area. 
 
Dr Yang Zhao is an Associate Professor in the Animal Science Department at the University of Tennessee, USA. He is recognised for his work in smart poultry farming and has had his work published in over 150 scientific articles. Dr Zhao has been in Chair and member roles of several professional committees of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) and is an Associate Editor of the Transactions of the ASABE. He is also the lead editor and co-editor of several Special Issues published in Animals

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Dr Regiane R. Santos has agreed to edit our forthcoming title: 'Advances in improving animal feed safety'.  
 
Dr Regiane Santos is an Innovation Coordinator and Research Scientist based at Schothorst Feed Research, The Netherlands. Dr Santos specialises in mycotoxins and their effects on gut health and reproduction. She is member of the World’s Poultry Science Association, International Society for Mycotoxicology and the Society for Mycotoxin Research. Dr Santos is also editor of the book Mycotoxins: From Field to Feed and has contributed to over 160 publications on animal nutrition and reproduction.

Dr Nico van Belzen is Director General at ScienceConsult, The Netherlands. He is also former Director General of the International Dairy Federation (IDF), Belgium. He has occupied senior roles in both industry and research organisations, both as Head of the Research and Analysis department at the ingredients division of Campina and as Executive Director of the European Branch of the International Life Sciences Institute (ILSI). Dr van Belzen is editor of two earlier Burleigh Dodds Science volumes: Achieving sustainable production of milk Volume 1: Safety, quality and sustainability; and Achieving sustainable production of milk Volume 2: Milk composition, genetics and breeding (both published in 2017). He is also editor of an upcoming Burleigh Dodds Science volume: Alternative animal feed products

Professor Lisa Collins is Pro Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation at the University of Surrey, UK. Prior to this role, she held a variety of leadership roles at the University of Leeds, UK, including Academic Director of the National Pig Centre. Professor Collins is recognised for her work in animal health and welfare epidemiology as well as the development and application of smarter agricultural systems through multi-disciplinary approaches including technology development, in-field testing, systems modelling and data analytics.

Dr Körner is a Senior Scientist and Head of the Department of Next-Generation Horticultural Systems (HORTSYS) at the world-renowned Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ), Germany. He leads the HORTSYS 2 Research Group and is Acting Head of the PA HORTSYS Research Group. Dr Körner is internationally known for his expertise in the controlled environment cultivation of horticultural crops, particularly modelling plant-environment interactions in protected cultivation. 
 
Dr Proksch is an Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture within the College of Built Environments at the University of Washington, USA, where she is also an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture. She is Founding Director of the Circular City + Living Systems Lab (CSSL), an interdisciplinary group applying circular economy principles to building and city design. Professor Proksch is Principal Investigator of the National Science Foundation-funded CITIFOODS Project which is investigating the broader development of aquaponic systems in urban environments.

Dr Bob Rees is Professor in Agriculture and Climate Change and Head of the Carbon Management Centre at SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College), UK. With over 150 published papers, Professor Rees is internationally renowned for his research on soil carbon sequestration, agricultural greenhouse gas (GHG) mitigation, nutrient cycling and ways agriculture can adapt to climate change. He has coordinated or participated in major international research programmes such as the EU Legume-Futures Project and the European Commission Joint Soils Programme. Professor Rees is also Speciality Chief Editor for the Frontiers journal Climate Smart Food Systems and Associate Editor for Soil Use and Management
 
Dr Jørgen Eivind Olesen is Professor in Climate Change and Agriculture and Head of the Department of Agroecology at Aarhus University, Denmark. He is also an Adjunct Professor at both the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) and Ganzu Agricultural University (China). Professor Olesen has an international reputation for his research on the effect of agriculture on the environment and how environmental change affects agroecosystems. He has contributed to the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and has participated in a wide range of EU research projects focussed on understanding and reducing GHG emissions for agriculture and developing more climate-resilient agricultural systems. He is Vice-Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board for FACCE-JPI which coordinates research on sustainable agriculture, food security and climate change impacts.

Dr Ruben Sakrabani is Professor of Soil Chemistry in the Centre for Soil, Agrifood and biosciences at Cranfield University, UK. He has an international reputation particularly for his research on the nutrient dynamics, resource use efficiency and reliability of organic soil amendments such as compost, manure, slurry sludge, biochar and digestates. Professor Sakrabani is an Associate Editor of Soil Use and Management. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) responsible for research funding in environmental science.

Professor Daniel Berckmans has been associated with the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) for 40 years where he was Head of the M3-BIORES (Measure, Model and Manage Bioresponses) Division for over 20 years as a full professor. His team is widely regarded as a world leader in precision livestock farming, producing over 350 publications and over 450 conference papers, with 17 new products brought to market in collaboration with industrial partners and 20 patents submitted. He has coordinated a number of EU research projects and is co-founder of two spin-off companies from his research. In addition to many PhDs produced within M3-BIORES, he has been a member of 64 PhD committees in 9 different countries and promoted over 200 Masters theses. In 2003 he started the European Conferences on Precision Livestock Farming (ECPLF) which reached its 10th anniversary in 2022. Professor Berckmans has also been appointed Adjunct Distinguished Professor at the University of Tennessee to help develop precision livestock farming research in the USA. He is also member of the Scientific Council of the World Farmers Organization who represent a billion farmers worldwide. Reuters ranked Katholieke Universiteit Leuven as the 7th most innovative university worldwide, being the first non-US university in the list. Professor Berckmans is also editor of Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing’s previous volume Advances in precision livestock farming (published in 2022). 
 
Dr Tomás Norton is Associate Professor of Sustainable Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) in the Division of Animal and Human and Health Engineering and research group of M3-BIORES, at Katholieke Universiteit Leuven. He has co-authored over 100 publications, over 50 conference proceedings and 10 book chapters. Dr Norton is also Chair of Section II and Technical Board of the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR) and Co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal Computers and Electronics in Agriculture. He is Associate Editor of the Cell Press journal Heliyon (Agriculture), Frontiers of Veterinary Science (Animal Behavior and Welfare) and Frontiers of Animal Science (Precision Livestock Farming). Dr Norton is also Series editor of the Springer Nature Book Series: Smart Animal Production and the Springer Nature Encyclopedia of Smart Agricultural Technologies. He is also contributor to Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing’s previous volume Advances in precision livestock farming (published in 2022).

Dr van den Brand is an Associate Professor of the Adaptation Physiology Group at Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands. His research is mainly focused on the early life of poultry, with special interest in breeder management, incubation, early nutrition and thermoregulation. The aim of his research is to improve or maintain poultry health, welfare and resilience. Dr van den Brand is also a contributor to our previously published title Embryo development and hatchery practice in poultry production (2023).

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor Richard Oliver has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Global trends in pesticide resistance‘. 
 
Professor Oliver was formerly John Curtin Distinguished Professor in the Centre for Crop Disease Management at Curtin University, Australia. He is currently an Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham, UK. Amongst numerous achievements, he has been a Visiting Professor at Wageningen University in The Netherlands as well as a Past President of the British Society for Plant Pathology.  
 
He has also recently completed editing the 6th edition of Agrios' Plant Pathology, widely regarded as a standard reference in its subject. Professor Oliver has edited two previous books for Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing: Integrated disease management of wheat and barley (2018) and Achieving durable disease resistance in cereals (2021).

Dr Sjoerd Willem Duiker is Professor of Soil Management and Applied Soil Physics at Penn State University, USA. He has made significant contributions to both research and extension in developing more sustainable soil management practices in such areas as no-till systems, the use of cover crops, mulches and more diverse crop rotations. He is a member of the Governing Board of the Northeast Cover Crops Council which brings together universities, farmers, government agencies and others to optimise cover crop use in the north-eastern states of the USA. Professor Duiker is also a co-editor of the forthcoming Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing collection 'Weed management in Conservation Agriculture systems'.  
 
Dr Andy Clark recently retired as National Communications Director of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) Program. He led the communications arm of the SARE Program that was instrumental in developing and disseminating sustainable crop and livestock management practices in the United States. As Communications Director, Dr Clark oversaw the development of more than 40 publications, including editing the Third Edition of the SARE publication ‘Managing Cover Crops Profitably’, widely regarded as the standard reference for farmers, agronomists and others interested in adoption of cover crops on farms in the United States.

Dr Jay Stratton Noller is Founder and Former Director of the Global Hemp Innovation Center at Oregon State University, USA, which was launched in 2019. Now retired, Dr Noller is also Professor Emerit of Oregon State University.  
 
From 2011 to 2023, Dr Noller also led hemp research for the State of Oregon, has co-authored legislative bills and administrative rules for USA, Washington and Oregon hemp industry, has advised several countries on hemp policies, and has developed collaborative research agreements and partnerships on hemp at over 20 institutions worldwide.

Dr Netherer is a Senior Scientist in the Institute of Forest Entomology, Forest Pathology and Forest Protection (IFFF) at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria. She has an international reputation for her expertise in risk assessment of bark beetles and other forest insect pests. 
 
Dr Klapwijk is a Senior Lecturer in Forest Entomology at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden. She is known for her research on population dynamics of native and invasive species affecting forests. She is Co-ordinator of the Entomology of the Research Group at the International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO).

Dr Norton is Professor of Soil Microbiology in the Department of Plants, Soils and Climate at Utah State University, USA. She is a Fellow of the Soil Science Society of America. Professor Norton is internationally known for her research on ways of analysing the soil microbiome, including its role in nitrogen and carbon cycling. 
 
Dr Schimel is Professor of Soil Ecology in the Faculty of Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology at the University of California-Santa Barbara, USA. Professor Schimel is Co-Editor in Chief of Soil Biology and Biochemistry. His research focuses on role of soil microbes in controlling ecosystem-scale processes. 
 
Dr Lindo is Professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Professor Lindo is Co-Chair of the FAO International Initiative on Soil Biodiversity (NETSOB) and Editor-in-Chief of Pedobiologia: Journal Of Soil Ecology as well as being an acknowledged expert on soil biodiversity and its impact on ecosystem function. 
Dr Rob Theelen

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Dr Rob Theelen has agreed to edit our forthcoming title: ‘Chemical contaminants in food: understanding and managing risks’.  
 
In a distinguished career, Dr Theelen has worked as a toxicological scientist, policy officer and risk assessor for the Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, and the Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) as well for the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM). From 2002 to 2017 Dr Theelen was also Technical Assistant to the Chair of the Codex Committee on Contaminants in Food.  
 
He is involved in a number of EU programmes such as the Better Training for Safer Food (BTSF) Initiative and the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) Platform established by the European Commission to support best practice in areas such as food safety amongst EU member state governments. He manages the Food Safety Portal which provides information on relevant EU legislation and calculation tools for assessing exposure risk for those involved in chemical risk management and assessment.

Dr Webster is Emeritus Professor in Animal Husbandry at the University of Bristol, UK. He established the Animal Welfare and Behaviour Group at the University of Bristol, one of the largest and most highly-regarded of its kind in the world, and was a founder member of the Farm Animal Welfare Council which pioneered the Five Freedoms for farm animals. Professor Webster is editor of an earlier Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing volume: Achieving sustainable production of milk Volume 3: Dairy herd management and welfare (published in 2017). Other key books written or edited by Professor Webster include Understanding the Dairy Cow and Animal Husbandry Regained: the place of farm animals in sustainable agriculture

Dr Hoogenboom is Professor and Preeminent Scholar in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering at the University of Florida, USA. With over 30 years’ experience and over 500 peer-reviewed publications, he is acknowledged as a global expert in crop modelling. He currently coordinates development of the Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT), one of the leading crop modelling systems. Professor Hoogenboom also co-authored the chapter on DSSAT in Burleigh Dodds Science’s successful 2019 title: Advances in crop modelling for a sustainable agriculture (ed. Ken Boote). Professor Hoogenboom is the Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Agricultural Science

Dr Agnes van den Pol-van Dasselaar is Professor of Grasslands and Grazing at Aeres University of Applied Sciences, The Netherlands. Prior to her appointment of this role in 2015, Dr van den Pol-van Dasselaar had a distinguished career spanning over 20 years at Wageningen Livestock Research, in which she held several positions, including Head of Grass and Forage Systems. Dr van den Pol-van Dasselaar recently co-edited Grassland Use in Europe (2020) and has contributed to over 200 journal articles on grazing, ecosystem services, grass and forage management, as well as greenhouse gas emissions and sustainable production systems. She is also the current President of the European Grassland Federation and Member of its Scientific Advisory Board.

Dr Manning is Professor of Sustainable Agri-Food Systems at the Lincoln Institute for Agri-food Technology at the University of Lincoln, UK. With over 30 years of experience in both industry and research, and over 125 peer-reviewed publications, Professor Manning is internationally-renowned for both her research and consultancy work on food safety and quality, agri-food systems, food integrity and crime. She is an Associate Editor for the British Food Journal and is a member of the Board of Trustees for Rothamsted Research. Professor Manning has previously edited Developing smart agri-food supply chains: Using technology to improve safety and quality, published by Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing in 2021.

Dr Naidu is Professor in the College of Engineering Science and Environment and Founding Director of the Global Centre for Environmental Remediation (GCER) at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is also Chief Executive Officer, Managing Director and Chief Scientist of the Cooperative Research Centre for Contamination Assessment and Remediation of the Environment (crcCARE). Professor Naidu is also Chair of the UN FAO International Network on Soil Pollution (INSOP) and Chair of the CleanUp Conference Series.  
 
Amongst other honours he received the 2022 Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award and Medal and the 2023 European Geosciences Union Alina Kabata-Pendias Medal. His election as a Fellow of Australian Academy of Science Technology and Engineering, New Zealand Academy of Science and Indian Academy of Agricultural Science reflects his outstanding scientific contribution. With over 850 journal publications, he is a Web of Science Globally Highly-Cited Researcher in soil contamination and remediation research.

Dr Laurie Drinkwater is a Professor in the School of Integrative Plant Science at Cornell University, USA. Professor Drinkwater is internationally renowned for her research on soil nutrient cycling processes in agroecosystems. In 2018 she received a Lifetime Achievement Award in Organic Agriculture from the Agronomy Society of America. Dr Cristina Alamprese is Full Professor of Food Science and Technology in the Department of Food, Environmental and Nutritional Sciences at the University of Milan, Italy. Professor Alamprese is current Chair of Working Group 4 (Quality of Eggs and Egg Products) of the World Poultry Science Association (WPSA). With over 70 indexed publications, she is internationally known for her research on food design as well as monitoring and optimising quality in food processing operations. 
 
Dr Yves Nys is former Research Director for the Poultry Unit at INRAE, France. As a scientist, he studied calcium metabolism in hens (eggshell quality and fabric), mineral nutrition and egg quality (nutritional value and biological activity of egg proteins). With over 200 publications, Dr Nys is regarded as one of the world’s leading authorities on optimising the nutrition of laying hens. The recipient of a number of awards for his research, he has served as Vice-President of the WPSA, president of the European Federation and has coordinated two major EU research projects on egg quality. 
 
Dr Yoshinori Mine is Full Professor in the Department of Food Science at the University of Guelph, Canada. Professor Mine is on the editorial board of a number of leading journals. Winner of a number of awards, he is internationally renowned for his contribution to research on egg science and the nutraceutical properties of eggs for human health. He has published 5 books, 37 book chapters, 15 review articles and 182 papers in peer-reviewed international journals. 
 
Dr Vincent Guyonnet is Managing Director of FFI Consulting in Canada, advising the poultry sector on key topics such as animal welfare, sustainability and the marketing of eggs. A distinguished career spanning both industry and research includes representing the global egg sector with the World Organisation for Animal Health (founded as OIE), the FAO and World Bank. Dr Guyonnet is also the Global Coordinator for Poultry health and Production with the organisation World Veterinary Education in Production Animal Health (WVEPAH). 
 
This new volume reviews recent research on key aspects of safety, quality and sustainability in poultry layer production systems. It builds on the successful two-volume collection which Burleigh Dodds Science published in 2017: Achieving sustainable production of eggs (ed. Julie Roberts; Vol 1: Safety and quality; Vol 2: Welfare and sustainability).

Dr Travis Glare is Professor of Applied Entomology and Director of the Research Management Office at Lincoln University, New Zealand. He has an international reputation and has published widely in the field of entomopathogenic microbes and use of biopesticides. He has worked on a range of international projects to develop novel biopesticides. Professor Glare co-edited Biopesticides for sustainable agriculture, published by Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing in 2020. 
 
Dr Johannes Jehle is Head of the Institute of Biological Control at the Federal Research Centre for Cultivated Plants (Julius Kühn Institute) and Adjunct Professor at the Technical University Darmstadt, Germany. He is also Vice-President of the West Palaearctic Regional Section of the International Organisation for Biological and Integrated Control (IOBC-WPRS), a member of the IOBC Working Group on Microbial and Nematode Control, and previous President of the Society of Invertebrate Pathology (SIP). A member of the editorial boards of several journals, Professor Jehle is internationally known for his research on entomopathogenic viruses.

Dr Gottlieb Basch is a Full Professor in the Department of Plant Science at the University of Évora, Portugal. He is President of the European Conservation Agriculture Federation and has contributed to a number of EIP AGRI Focus Groups, EU Horizon and other research projects on more sustainable methods of crop cultivation. 
 
Dr Emilio González-Sánchez is Associate Professor in the School for Agriculture and Forestry Engineering at the University of Cordoba, Spain. He is Secretary-General of the European Conservation Agriculture Federation, has coordinated several EU LIFE research projects and has been an international consultant on Conservation Agriculture for the FAO and World Bank. 
 
John Geraghty is a Lecturer at South East Technological University, Ireland. He has over 25 years’ research, development and consulting experience in soil and crop management, including working for the United Nations World Food Programme, with a particular focus on Conservation Agriculture techniques. 
 
Dr Seyed Vahid Eslami is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agronomy and Plant Breeding at the University of Birjand, Iran. He has worked on crop/weed ecology as well as weed behaviour and management strategies for 20 years. He has published widely on crop-weed ecophysiological responses to abiotic stresses such as drought and salinity. 
 
Dr Sjoerd Willem Duiker is Professor of Soil Management and Applied Soil Physics at Penn State University, USA. He has helped to develop Conservation Agriculture systems in the United States and has made significant contributions to research in such areas as soil compaction, no-till systems, the use of cover crops and mulches. 
 
Saidi Mkomwa is Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the African Conservation Tillage Network with over 30 years‘ experience of developing and promoting Conservation Agriculture techniques in Africa. Amongst other responsibilities he is Chair of the Conservation Agriculture Regional Working Group for Southern Africa. He is based in Kenya. 
 
Dr Marie Bartz is a Researcher in the Centre of Functional Ecology at the University of Coimbra, Portugal. She is also a Visiting Professor at the Federal Technological University of Paraná, Brazil. She has published widely on earthworms and other aspects of soil biodiversity.

He was formerly the Donald ‘Buddy’ Wray Chair in Food Safety and Director of the Center for Food Safety in the Institute of Food Science and Engineering at the University of Arkansas, USA. Dr Applegate is Head of Department and R. Harold and Patsy Harrison Professor of Poultry Science at the University of Georgia, USA. He is a Fellow and former President of the Poultry Science Association (PSA). Amongst other honours, he is a recipient of the PSA’s Evonik Degussa Award for Achievement in Poultry Science. Professor Applegate has edited two previous books for Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing: ‘Achieving sustainable production of poultry meat Volume 2: Breeding and nutrition’ and ‘Achieving sustainable production of poultry meat Volume 3: Health and welfare’, both published in 2017.

Dr Carolyn Sachs is Professor Emerita of Rural Sociology at The Pennsylvania State University, USA. She serves on an expert panel to the United Nations Programme on Gender, Water and Sanitation and is involved in several extension and outreach programmes, including the Pennsylvania Women’s Agricultural Network (PAWAgN), in which she provides agricultural, entrepreneurship and leadership training. Emerita Professor Sachs has held previous positions as Visiting Professor at Charles Sturt University, Australia and Visiting Professor at the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization, Rome, Italy. She has published widely on gender and agriculture, contributing books, chapters and journal articles, and in 2020, she co-edited the Routledge Handbook of Gender and Agriculture with Dr Paige Castellanos and other notable researchers. 
 
Dr Paige Castellanos is Senior Manager of Gender Justice and Inclusion at Oxfam America, USA. Before moving into her new role in 2022, Dr Castellanos was previously Director for the Gender Equity through Agriculture Research and Education (GEARE) Initiative at The Pennsylvania State University, USA. From 2016-2019, Dr Castellanos acted as Project Manager for the Women in Agriculture Network (WAgN): Honduras – a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve women’s participation in the horticulture value chain in Honduras. She has published widely on gender, empowerment and agriculture and co-edited the Routledge Handbook of Gender and Agriculture alongside Emerita Professor Carolyn Sachs and other notable researchers in 2020.

Professor Dr Ir J. G. A. J. (Jack) van der Vorst has had to step down as co-editor for health reasons. The new editor team is Professor Sander de Leeuw, Dr Renzo Akkerman and Dr Rodrigo Romero Silva. 
 
Professor Dr Ir S. L. J. M. (Sander) de Leeuw is Chair in Operations Research and Logistics at Wageningen University and Research, The Netherlands. He is also Adjunct Professor of Supply Chain Management at Nottingham Trent University, UK. Professor de Leeuw is a Senior Associate Editor for the International Journal of Logistics Management and has over 20 years of experience, including management consultancy for companies such as KPMG. He is internationally known for his research on online retail logistics as well as his work with NGOs on humanitarian aid supply chains. 
 
Dr Dr R. (Renzo) Akkerman is Associate Professor of Operations Research and Logistics at Wageningen University and Research. He was formerly Professor of Operations Management and Technology at the Technical University of Munich. Dr Akkerman is Coordinator of the European Operations Research Society (EURO) Working Group on Sustainable Supply Chains and has contributed to a number of EU Horizon 2020 research projects. He is known for his research on improving safety, quality and resource use in agri-food supply chains. 
 
Dr R. (Rodrigo) Romero Silva is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Operations Research and Logistics at Wageningen University and Research. He is also Assistant Professor in Industrial Engineering at Universidad Panamericana, Mexico. Dr Romero Silva formerly conducted research in operations analytics at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Amongst other responsibilities, he is on the Scientific Committee EUROSIM 2023. His expertise is in simulating resource use in food supply chains and other production systems. 

Lesley Stubbings and Kate Phillips 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Lesley Stubbings and Kate Phillips have agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Advances in sheep production‘. 
 
Now an independent consultant, Lesley Stubbings is a former Principal Sheep Consultant with ADAS in the UK. She is recipient of both an OBE from the UK Government and the George Hedley Memorial Award from the UK National Sheep Association for her outstanding contribution to the British sheep sector. She is an Honorary Life Member of the Sheep Veterinary Society and a leading figure in the Sustainable Control of Parasites in Sheep (SCOPS) Group which is acknowledged as a world leader in integrated parasite control. 
 
Kate Phillips is an independent consultant for the UK sheep sector and former Principal Livestock Consultant with ADAS. She is also a Regional Advisor for the Moredun Foundation and was a Senior Lecturer at Harper Adams University teaching ruminant production and nutrition. She is widely recognised for her expertise in aspects of sheep nutrition, welfare and health issues such as lameness and scab. 

Professor Shashi Sharma and Dr Minshad Ansari

Dr Shashi Sharma is President of the World BioProtection Forum and Adjunct Professor in the Harry Butler Institute at Murdoch University, Australia.

Dr Minshad Ansari is CEO of Bionema, a leading UK company developing new biocontrol products. He has over 25 years’ experience in bioprotection research, development and commercialisation, particularly in the area of entomopathogenic fungi and nematodes. Dr Ansari is Founder and Chair of the World Bioprotection Forum (WBF).  
 
Amongst other activities, WBF organises the annual World BioProtection Summit and Awards, a key event promoting collaboration between academia and industry to further progress in the sector. Dr Ansari is also an Honorary Research Fellow at Swansea University (UK). 

Professor Julian Wiseman 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor Julian Wiseman has agreed to edit our forthcoming title: Advances in pig nutrition.  
 
Dr Wiseman is Emeritus Professor of Animal Production at the University of Nottingham, UK. He has published widely in the area of non-ruminant nutrition and product quality, has presented papers at some of the leading international conferences in this area and has written or edited a number of books on animal nutrition.  
 
He was co-organiser of the annual Nottingham Feed Conference. Professor Wiseman is editor of two earlier Burleigh Dodds Science volumes: Achieving sustainable production of pig meat Volume 2 Animal breeding and nutrition; and Achieving sustainable production of pig meat Volume 3: Animal health and welfare (both published in 2017).

Adriana is co-founder and CEO of Tebrio. Tebrio is Spain’s first, award-winning, large-scale manufacturer of insect protein for food, feed, pet food and other applications. Collaborators with Tebrio include the Universities of Almería, Burgos and Granada. 
 
Adriana was also Vice-President of the International Platform of Insects for Food and Feed (IPIFF) from 2016-2021 and is currently President of IPIFF. With over 80 members from more than 20 countries, IPIFF represents the interests of the insect production sector within the EU in particular. 

Professor Jagdish Kumar Ladha 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor Jagdish Kumar Ladha has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Improving nitrogen use efficiency in crop production'. 
 
Professor Ladha is Adjunct Professor in the Department of Plant Sciences at the University of California-Davis, USA. Previously a Senior Scientist with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), Professor Ladha is internationally renowned for his pioneering research on sustainable resource use in agriculture. During 35 years of research, a topic that has continually attracted his attention and interest is nitrogen, an “intriguing enigma.”  
 
He has spent his career promoting optimal N use while minimizing its negative impact - encouraging farmers to efficiently apply N fertilizer only when the crop requires it. In addition to numerous awards for his research, he is a Fellow of the Crop Science Society of America, the American Society of Agronomy, the Indian Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Professor Ladha is also co-Editor in Chief of Field Crops Research.

Dr Vaarst is a Senior Researcher in the Department of Animal Science at Aarhus University, Denmark. She has published extensively on organic animal farming, coordinated several European research projects and co-edited Improving organic animal farming, published by Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing in 2019.  
 
Dr Roderick is Research Manager in the Rural Business School at Duchy College in the UK. He has published widely on animal health and farm resource management, was formerly Associate Editor of Organic Agriculture and co-edited Improving organic animal farming.  
 
Dr Lindsay Whistance is Senior Livestock Researcher at the Organic Research Centre in the UK. She is internationally known for her research on farm animal behaviour, health, welfare and nutrition in organic agriculture. 

Professor Jason Ross 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor Jason Ross has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Advances in pig breeding and reproduction‘.  
 
Dr Ross is the Lloyd L. Anderson Endowed Professor in Physiology in the Department of Animal Science at Iowa State University, USA. In addition, Professor Ross is the Director of the Iowa Pork Industry Center, supporting one of the leading hog-producing states in the USA. Professor Ross is internationally-known for his research on swine reproductive physiology for which he has received a number of awards. 

Professor Marian Garcia Martinez 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor Marian Garcia Martinez has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Consumers and food: Understanding and shaping consumer behaviour’.  
 
Dr Garcia Martinez is Professor of Marketing and Innovation and Dean of the Business School at the University of Kent, UK. The Business School has been awarded EQUIS accreditation for the quality of its research, teaching and engagement with industry. Professor Garcia Martinez is also Director of Kent Business School Open Innovation Network and has worked with the UKRI ESRC-funded Enterprise Research Centre on innovation for small businesses. She is internationally known for her research on open innovation management and product development by businesses working collaboratively with customers. Her publications include a recent book on open innovation in the food industry. 

Professor Kari E. Dunfield 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor Kari E. Dunfield, has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Understanding and utilising soil microbiomes for a more sustainable agriculture'. 
 
Dr Dunfield is a Professor and Tier 2 Canada Research Chair in Environmental Microbiology of Agro-ecosystems in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of Guelph, Canada. Working at the intersection of microbiology, ecology, and soil science, her work investigates the microbial communities and microbial processes driving the global processes that help support life on Earth. She is the North American Representative for the UN-FAO Global Soil Partnership (Pillar 1). Dr Dunfield is currently the Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Canadian Journal of Microbiology

Emeritus Professor Nick Reid and Dr Rhiannon Smith 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing wishes to announce that Dr David Paton has decided to step down as co-editor of ‘Managing biodiversity in agricultural landscapes: Conservation, restoration and rewilding’. We are grateful for his contribution to the book.  
 
The new editor team is: Emeritus Professor Nick Reid and Dr Rhiannon Smith, University of New England, Australia. 
 
Dr Reid is Emeritus Professor in Ecosystem Management and former Head of the School of Environmental and Rural Science at the University of New England, Australia. He is internationally renowned for his research on ecosystem management and restoration of biodiversity in production landscapes. Professor Reid is co-author (with David Norton) of Nature and Farming: Sustaining Native Biodiversity in Agricultural Landscapes. He has led and participated in many state and federal projects on ways to integrate biodiversity and Australian farming. 
 
Dr Smith is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Management in the School of Environmental and Rural Science at the University of New England. Her research focuses particularly on promoting biodiversity and ecosystem services in the Australian agricultural sector for conservation and production benefits. She teaches several units focusing on integrating agriculture and environment, as well as ecosystem rehabilitation and extension and engagement strategies. 

Professor Claus Aage Grøn Sørensen 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Professor Claus Aage Grøn Sørensen has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Smart farms: Improving data-driven decision making in agriculture‘. 
 
Professor Sørensen is a Senior Scientist in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Aarhus University, Denmark. He is internationally renowned for his research on analysing data flows in farming operations to optimise resource use. He is winner of outstanding paper awards from the European Society of Agricultural Engineers (EurAgEng) and the journal Biosystems Engineering.  
 
He is past President of EurAgEng and current Workgroup Coordinator of the International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR). He has participated in a number of EU research projects such as Internet of Food and Farms 2020, FutureFarm and SmartAgriFood2 and has been a member of the scientific committees for conferences organised by the European Federation for Information Technology in Agriculture, Food and the Environment (EFITA) as well as other biosystems engineering conferences. 

Dr Manuel Seeger 

Burleigh Dodds Science Publishing is delighted to announce that Dr Manuel Seeger has agreed to edit our forthcoming collection: ‘Understanding and preventing soil erosion‘. 
 
Dr Seeger is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physical Geography in the School of Regional and Environmental Sciences at the University of Trier, Germany. He was formerly Associate Professor at the University of Zaragoza, Spain, and Assistant Professor at Wageningen University, The Netherlands.  
 
Dr Seeger is internationally known for his research on measuring, understanding and mitigating soil erosion, particularly for European soils. He has chaired sessions related to soil erosion, its measurement and modelling at a number of conferences, including those organised by the European Geosciences Union. Dr Seeger is also on the editorial boards of a number of journals and has participated in a number of EU research projects such as DiverFarming and FireLinks.

Dr Mark Post is Professor of Sustainable Industrial Tissue Engineering in the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Professor Post is internationally renowned for his research in developing biomaterials for arterial grafting and the diagnosis of neovascularization. Dr Che Connon is Professor of Tissue Engineering and FMS Director of Business Development at Newcastle University, UK. He has an international reputation for his work on understanding senescence in cut flowers and how this understanding can be used to maintain post-harvest quality. Since 2013 Dr Rott has been Professor of Plant Pathology in the Everglades Research and Education Center at the University of Florida. He previously conducted research at CIRAD (the French Agricultural Research Center for International Development) for over three decades. Dr Kema is a Senior Scientist at Plant Research International, Wageningen, The Netherlands and Professor in Tropical Plant Pathology at Wageningen University, The Netherlands. Dr Drenth is Professorial Research Fellow at the Queensland Alliance for Agriculture and Food Innovation (QAAFI), and Professor in Tropical Plant Pathology at the University of Queensland. Dr Wale is a potato agronomist and researcher for SAC Consulting within SRUC (Scotland’s Rural College). He was formerly Head of Crop Services at the Scottish Agricultural College (SAC – the forerunner of SRUC). He has published widely on potato diseases in particular, including co-editing Diseases, pests and disorders of potatoes: a colour handbook, and is a former President of the British Society of Plant Pathology. Dr Víctor Galán Saúco is Research Professor (Emeritus) at the Instituto Canario de Investigaciones Agrarias (ICIA), Spain where he was Head of Research from 1980 to 2006. He has been President of the Spanish Society of Horticultural Science and is former Chair of the Mango Working Group of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS). He has acted as a consultant for organisations such as the FAO, EMBRAPA and the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation (AECID). Professor Galán Saúco is widely regarded as one of the world’s leading experts on mangoes and has published widely on mangoes and other tropical fruits. 
 
Dr Ping Lu is a Fellow in the Research Institute for the Environment and Livelihoods at Charles Darwin University, Australia. He is the current Chair of the Mango Working Group of the ISHS and a Principal Plant Ecologist at ERA (Energy Resources of Australia). Dr Lu has been a Senior Research Scientist at CSIRO, Australia and has worked at INRA and CIRAD, France and Nanjing Forestry University, China. He has also published extensively on mango physiology. He was the Convenor of the Ninth International Mango Symposium held in China in 2010. 

Prof. Henry Nguyen
